...River Statement For The Tallapoosa River...
Heavy rainfall during the past couple days is producing rises on the
Tallapoosa River. However...levels are expected to
remain below established flood stages...and any overflow along the
river should be of a minor nature.
The Tallapoosa River At Milstead.
Latest Stage: 15.3 Feet AT 5 AM Sunday.
Caution Stage: 15.0 Feet.
Flood Stage: 40.0 Feet.
Forecast: Crest near 16.2 feet this afternoon
and then begin to fall.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet...Overflow of pasture lands occurs. Cattle may
need to be moved if higher stages are forecast.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected today and
tonight. If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
