FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR WESTERN NEW YORK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY
332 PM EDT SUN MAY 3 2015

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FOR THE FINGER LAKES AND LOWER
   GENESEE BASIN ON MONDAY...

CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE TO BE WARM AND DRY TODAY WITH RH DOWN TO ABOUT
25 PERCENT INLAND OF THE LAKE BREEZE. THIS WILL CONTINUE TO DRY FINE
FUELS...HOWEVER WINDS WILL BE RELATIVELY LIGHT.

WINDS WILL BE STRONGER ON MONDAY IN ADVANCE OF A COLD FRONT WHICH IS
APPROACHING THE REGION. WIND GUSTS OF 25 MPH TO 35 MPH ARE LIKELY WITH
THE STRONGEST WINDS NORTHEAST OF THE LAKES. HOWEVER...RH WILL BE LOWEST
INLAND WHERE TEMPERATURES WILL BE WARMER AND THE AIR WILL BE DRIER.
CONSIDERING BOTH OF THESE FACTORS THE MOST CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
WILL BE ACROSS THE FINGER LAKES REGION AND IN THE LOWER GENESEE VALLEY
WHERE THE COMBINATION OF LOW RH AND GUSTY WINDS WILL APPROACH RED FLAG
CRITERIA.
