FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
242 PM PDT MON MAY 4 2015

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...A DISSIPATING FRONT WILL MOVE
THROUGH THE REGION THIS EVENING...BRINGING LIGHT RAIN AND
BREEZY WINDS. A COLD UPPER LEVEL LOW WILL MOVE THROUGH
TUE AND WED...BRINGING A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE TO SHOWERY AND
MUCH COOLER WEATHER. THERE WILL BE A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR
THUNDERSTORMS BEGINNING LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUING THROUGH
WED EVENING. THE UPPER LOW WILL MOVE SOUTH OF THE REGION THU...
BRINGING DRIER AND WARMER WEATHER FOR LATE IN THE WEEK AND
INTO NEXT WEEKEND AS WELL.

.DISCUSSION...A DISSIPATING FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH SW
WASHINGTON AND NW OREGON THIS EVENING...BRINGING LIGHT RAIN MAINLY
TO THE COAST AND HIGHER TERRAIN. THE FRONT WILL ALSO BRING SOME
BREEZY WINDS. A COLD UPPER LEVEL LOW PRES SYSTEM WILL THEN MOVE
THROUGH THE REGION TUE AND WED...BRINGING A SIGNIFICANT
PATTERN CHANGE TO SHOWERY AND MUCH COOLER WEATHER. THERE WILL ALSO
BE CHANCES FOR THUNDERSTORMS BEGINNING LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUING
THROUGH WED EVENING DUE TO INSTABILITY CAUSED BY THE COLD POOL ALOFT
ASSOCIATED WITH THE UPPER LOW. THE HEAVIEST SHOWER ACTIVITY AND
BEST THUNDER POTENTIAL WILL REMAIN OVER THE NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE
DISTRICT ON TUE. THE THUNDER THREAT WILL THEN EXPAND OVER THE ENTIRE
AREA WED AS THE UPPER LOW MOVES SOUTH. THE UPPER LOW WILL DIVE SOUTH
OF THE REGION THU. A FEW SHOWERS MAY LINGER OVER THE CASCADES...BUT
EXPECT A TREND TOWARD DRIER AND WARMER WEATHER TO START ON THU AND
CONTINUE AT LEAST INTO THE EARLY PORTION OF NEXT WEEKEND. PYLE
