HAWAIIAN ISLANDS SATELLITE INTERPRETATION MESSAGE

BASED ON DATA THROUGH 0000 UTC MAY 07 2015

AS OF 200 PM HST...SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWED A WEAKENING FRONTAL
BOUNDARY EXTENDING SOUTHWEST FROM 30N164W TO 24N180...WHICH WAS
AROUND 600 MILES NORTHWEST OF KAUAI. THIS BOUNDARY WAS MOVING
EASTWARD AROUND 10 MPH NORTH OF 28N AND NEARLY STATIONARY ELSEWHERE.
CLOUD TOPS WERE BELOW 25000 FEET SOUTH OF 30N ALONG THE BOUNDARY.
SCATTERED TO BROKEN STABLE CUMULUS CLOUDS WERE LOCATED WEST OF THIS
BOUNDARY BETWEEN 27N AND 30N FROM 172W TO THE DATELINE.

BROKEN TO OVERCAST...MOSTLY LOW CLOUDS...WERE IMPACTING KAUAI AND
OAHU. CLOUD TOPS ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOW CLOUDS WERE LESS THAN
10000 FEET. SCATTERED LOW CLOUDS WERE OBSERVED OVER THE
SOUTH-CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST PORTIONS OF OAHU. SCATTERED LOW AND
HIGH CLOUDS WERE SHOWN OVER MOLOKAI AND MAUI. MOST OF THE COVERAGE
OVER THE BIG ISLAND WAS FOCUSED ALONG THE LEEWARD SIDE DUE TO THE
AFTERNOON HEATING AND SEA BREEZE. FARTHER EAST AND NORTHEAST OF THE
ISLANDS...SCATTERED TO BROKEN LOW CLOUDS WERE SHOWN TRACKING
WEST-SOUTHWEST WITHIN THE TRADE WINDS AT 15 TO 20 MPH.


CLUSTERS OF MODERATE CONVECTION WITHIN THE ITCZ WERE OCCURRING WELL
SOUTH OF THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS BETWEEN THE EQUATOR AND 10N. DEBRIS
CLOUDS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ACTIVITY WERE SHOWN LIFTING
NORTHEASTWARD BETWEEN 10N AND 15N FROM 162W TO THE DATELINE.
