FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
225 PM PDT MON APR 20 2015

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...THE THERMAL TROUGH THAT HAS BEEN ALONG THE
COAST THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS IS MOVING EAST OVER THE REGION TODAY
AND WILL BE EAST OF THE CASCADES TONIGHT. TODAY IS THE LAST WARM
AND DRY DAY BEFORE COOLER AND MOISTER MARINE AIR SURGES IN. THEN
EXPECT PERIODICALLY SHOWERY AND MUCH COOLER WEATHER THROUGH THE REST
OF THE WEEK. A MORE ORGANIZED SYSTEM MAY BRING STEADIER PRECIPITATION
OVER THE WEEKEND.

.DISCUSSION...THE UPPER LEVEL RIDGE THAT HAS BEEN OVER THE PAC NW
FOR THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS IS MOVING THROUGH THE REGION TODAY AND
WILL BE EAST OF THE CASCADES TONIGHT. THIS MEANS THAT TODAY WILL BE
THE LAST WARM AND DRY DAY BEFORE COOL AND MOIST MARINE AIR SURGES
INLAND BEHIND THE DEPARTING THERMAL TROUGH TONIGHT INTO TUE. AN
UPPER LEVEL TROUGH AND WEAK SURFACE FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE
REGION LATER TUE...BRINGING SCATTERED SHOWERS AND BREEZY ONSHORE
FLOW. REMOVED THE SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS FOR THE
CASCADES FROM THE FCST FOR TUE AFTERNOON AND EVENING...AS THE
LATEST MODEL SOUNDINGS REMAIN CAPPED AND NOT ALL THAT UNSTABLE.
COOLER AND SHOWERY WEATHER WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE REST OF THE
WEEK. THERE ARE NOT ANY WELL ORGANIZED SYSTEMS...AND PRECIPITATION
TOTALS SHOULD REMAIN LIGHT. A MORE ORGANIZED FRONTAL SYSTEM MAY
BRING STEADIER RAIN OVER THE WEEKEND. PYLE
