HAWAIIAN ISLANDS SATELLITE INTERPRETATION MESSAGE

BASED ON DATA THROUGH 0000 UTC MAY 06 2015

HIGH PRESSURE FAR NORTHEAST OF THE STATE IS PRODUCING TRADE WINDS
FOR MOST OF THE SUBTROPICAL CENTRAL PACIFIC. LOW CLOUDS MOVING ALONG
WITH THE TRADE WINDS ARE MOVING TOWARD THE WEST AT 15 TO 25 MPH
BETWEEN 140W AND 160W FROM 10N TO 30N. BROKEN TO OVERCAST LOW CLOUDS
DOMINATE THE AREA NORTHEAST AND EAST OF THE STATE IN THE AREA EAST
OF 150W AND N OF 15N. PATCHES OF OVERCAST LOW CLOUDS WITH INCREASING
CLEAR SKIES OCCUPY THE REST OF THE CENTRAL PACIFIC W OF 150W BETWEEN
10N AND 25N.

OVER HAWAII...LOW CLOUDS ARE PUSHING INTO THE WINDWARD SLOPES OF ALL
THE ISLANDS BRINGING CLOUDY SKIES WITH EMBEDDED SHOWERS. LEEWARD
KAUAI HAS CLOUDY SKIES WHILE LEEWARD OAHU HAS MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES.
LEEWARD MAUI COUNTY HAS PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES AS CLOUDS PUSH OVER THE
LOWER ELEVATION MOUNTAINS. ON THE BIG ISLAND DAYTIME HEATING AND
SEABREEZES HAVE BROUGHT CLOUDY SKIES TO THE LOWER LEEWARD SLOPES AND
SOUTHEAST SLOPES OF MAUNA LOA.

A WEAK COLD FRONT RUNS FROM 30N170W TO 25N AND THE DATELINE.
TOWERING CUMULUS DENOTE THE LEADING EDGE OF THE FRONT NORTH OF 27N
AND WEAKEN TO CUMULUS FARTHER SOUTH ALONG THE FRONT. OVERCAST LOW
CLOUDS ARE MOVING SOUTH BEHIND THE FRONT AND SCATTERED LOW CLOUDS
ARE MOVING NORTH AHEAD OF THE FRONT.
