REGIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY FOR WESTERN KANSAS

ANOTHER ROUND OF THUNDERSTORMS BROUGHT WELL NEEDED RAINFALL TO THE
WESTERN PLAINS YESTERDAY EVENING, RAINFALL AND ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS WERE ALSO NOTED ACROSS PORTIONS OF EASTERN KANSAS THIS
MORNING. RAINFALL REPORTS RANGED FROM OVER AN INCH WITH THE STRONGER
STORMS TO LESS THAN A TENTH IN OTHER AREAS. WIDESPREAD FOG DEVELOPED
ACROSS SOUTHWESTERN KANSAS EARLIER THIS MORNING REDUCING
VISIBILITIES TO A QUARTER OF A MILE OR LESS. LOW TEMPERATURES THIS
MORNING RANGED FROM THE UPPER 30S IN NORTHWESTERN KANSAS TO THE
LOWER 60S IN THE SOUTHEASTERN HALF OF THE STATE.

AN UPPER LEVEL CLOSED LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM ON THE LEE SIDE OF THE
CENTRAL ROCKIES WILL INCH CLOSER TO THE KANSAS BORDER LATER TONIGHT.
BY SUNDAY MORNING, THIS SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO BECOME AN OPEN WAVE AS
IT MIGRATES FARTHER EAST. A SURFACE DRYLINE WILL REMAIN POSITIONED
ACROSS SOUTHWESTERN KANSAS THIS AFTERNOON AND WILL BECOME THE MAIN
FOCUS FOR THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. SOME
OF THESE STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO REACH SEVERE LIMITS WITH LARGE HAIL
AND STRONG THUNDERSTORM WINDS BEING THE PRIMARY THREAT.
THUNDERSTORMS ARE ANTICIPATED THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS.

HIGHS TODAY WILL RANGE FROM THE MID 50S IN NORTHEASTERN COLORADO TO
THE MID 70S IN CENTRAL OKLAHOMA. LOWS TONIGHT WILL DROP INTO THE MID
30S IN NORTHEASTERN COLORADO WITH LOWER 50S EXPECTED IN CENTRAL
KANSAS.
