REGIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY FOR WESTERN KANSAS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DODGE CITY KS
923 PM CDT SAT APR 25 2015

A RATHER QUIET WEATHER REGIME PREVAILED OVER THE WESTERN HALF OF
KANSAS ON SATURDAY AFTER AN ACTIVE END TO THE WORKWEEK ON FRIDAY.
SPECIFICALLY, A SURFACE LOW SLIPPED EAST INTO THE LOWER MISSOURI
RIVER VALLEY SATURDAY AFTERNOON WITH A TRAILING COLD FRONT MOVING
SOUTH ACROSS THE CENTRAL PLAINS. HOWEVER, OTHER THAN SOME WEAK
THUNDERSTORMS OVER NORTHEAST COLORADO, MOST OF THE REGION WAS DRY
UNDER A PARTLY CLOUDY TO MOSTLY SUNNY SKY. AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES
CLIMBED INTO THE 70S TO LOWER 80S FOR HIGHS OVER SOUTHWEST INTO
CENTRAL KANSAS.

THE REMAINDER OF TONIGHT INTO EARLY ON SUNDAY WILL SEE TRANQUIL
CONDITIONS GIVE WAY TO A COOLER AND WETTER SETUP AS AN UPPER LEVEL
DISTURBANCE MOVES INTO THE ROCKIES TO ADJACENT HIGH PLAINS REGION.
THIS SYSTEM WILL BRING AN INCREASE CHANCE FOR LIGHT RAIN BY SUNDAY
MORNING OVER THE CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS WITH SOME AREAS OF FOG POSSIBLE
AS WELL. THE BEST CHANCE FOR PRECIPITATION BY LATE AFTERNOON WILL
THEN FOCUS JUST NORTH OF A STALLED FRONT FROM SOUTH CENTRAL COLORADO
INTO THE NORTHERN TEXAS PANHANDLE WITH A SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS
POSSIBLE ALONG THIS AXIS AS WELL. HOWEVER, A CHANCE FOR SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS WILL EXIST OVER SOUTHWEST KANSAS INTO THE EVENING
HOURS.

LOWS TONIGHT WILL RANGE FROM THE LOWER AND MID 40S OVER NORTHERN
KANSAS TO THE LOWER TO MID 50S OVER FAR SOUTHERN KANSAS INTO
OKLAHOMA. HIGH TEMPERATURES ON SUNDAY WILL RANGE FROM 50S OVER
NORTHWEST KANSAS TO THE MID 60S TO MID 70S OVER NORTHERN OKLAHOMA.
