DAY 2 FIRE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1231 PM CDT MON MAY 04 2015

VALID 051200Z - 061200Z

...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

SOME FIRE WEATHER THREAT MAY EXIST ACROSS PARTS OF CENTRAL AND
NORTHEASTERN NORTH DAKOTA D2/TUE AFTERNOON AS 15-20 MPH SELY SURFACE
WINDS COMBINE WITH AFTERNOON RH APPROACHING 20 PERCENT FOR A FEW
HOURS DURING PEAK HEATING. THE TEMPORAL EXTENT OF THIS
THREAT...HOWEVER...MAY BE TOO BRIEF FOR ANY ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER
THREAT AS SURFACE RH IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE DUE TO ONGOING
LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE ADVECTION. NO THREAT DELINEATION WILL BE MADE FOR
THIS FORECAST...BUT AN ELEVATED AREA MAY BE NEEDED IN FUTURE
OUTLOOKS IF LOW-LEVEL MOISTENING IS SLOWER THAN CURRENTLY FORECAST.

ANOTHER AREA OF CONCERN EXISTS ACROSS NEW ENGLAND AS 10-15 MPH WLY
SURFACE WINDS AND LOW RH BEHIND A COLD FRONT MAY LEAD TO
LOCALLY-ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR A FEW HOURS IN THE
AFTERNOON. MODEL GUIDANCE...HOWEVER...INDICATES SOME POTENTIAL FOR
WETTING RAINS WITH THE FRONT AS IT PASSES THROUGH LATE
D1/MON...WHICH WOULD LIMIT THE D2/TUE FIRE WEATHER THREAT. THIS
UNCERTAINTY PRECLUDES ISSUANCE OF ANY THREAT DELINEATION...BUT THE
AREA WILL BE MONITORED IN FUTURE OUTLOOKS.

FOR MORE INFORMATION...SEE PREVIOUS DISCUSSION BELOW.

..COOK/GLEASON.. 05/04/2015

.PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 0306 AM CDT MON MAY 04 2015/

...SYNOPSIS...
A SRN STREAM SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL PROGRESS OUT OF THE SOUTHWEST AND
ACROSS THE SRN/CNTRL PLAINS...AHEAD OF AN AMPLIFYING MIDLEVEL TROUGH

PLAINS...WITH A LEE TROUGH BECOMING ESTABLISHED OVER ERN NM. LOCALLY
WINDY CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE IN THE WAKE OF THE LEE TROUGH OVER
SERN NM...BUT PRECIPITATION FORECAST TO OCCUR ON MON/D1 IS EXPECTED
TO MITIGATE FIRE WEATHER POTENTIAL. LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE WILL ADVANCE
NWD INTO THE CNTRL PLAINS AND MID-MS VALLEY...WITH RELATIVELY DRIER
CONDITIONS OVER PARTS OF WI/MI WHERE SFC WINDS WILL GENERALLY BE
WEAK.
