WEATHER SUMMARY FOR IOWA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DES MOINES IA
1042 AM CDT SUN APR 19 2015

AFTER A DAY FULL OF SHOWERS AND STORMS ACROSS MUCH OF THE
STATE YESTERDAY...THIS MORNING WAS GENERALLY OVERCAST ACROSS THE
STATE. RAINFALL AMOUNTS VARIED QUITE A BIT STATE WIDE WITH AREAS
ACROSS WESTERN AND CENTRAL IOWA RECEIVING AS MUCH AS AN INCH AND
QUARTER OR MORE OF RAIN AND AS LITTLE AS A QUARTER OF AN INCH.
MUCH OF THAT VARIATION WAS DUE TO NUMEROUS SMALL SHOWERS AND
STORMS THAT HAD A LIFETIME OF AN HOUR OR LESS BUT WERE HEAVY RAIN
PRODUCERS. OVERNIGHT LOWS WERE VERY MILD WITH ALL OF THE RAIN AND
MOISTURE AROUND...ONLY REACHING THE MID TO UPPER 50S IN MOST
LOCATIONS.

CURRENTLY SHOWERS ARE WORKING THEIR WAY UP FROM THE SOUTH AND ARE
EXPECTED TO INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON BEFORE BEING PUSHED OFF TO THE
EAST BY AN INCOMING COLD FRONT. IN TOTAL...NEW PRECIPITATION MAY TOTAL
AROUND A QUARTER TO HALF AN INCH IN MANY LOCATIONS. THE FRONT
CURRENTLY RESIDES ACROSS NORTHWEST IOWA WHERE WINDS HAVE ALREADY
SHIFTED OUT OF THE NORTHWEST AND INCREASED TO 15 TO 20MPH. THE
FRONT WILL MAKE ITS WAY THROUGH CENTRAL IOWA THIS AFTERNOON AND
EASTERN IOWA THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT.

FOR THE WORK WEEK...WHILE IT WILL BE DRY...IT WILL BE A CHILLY
ONE COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS WEEK. HIGHS THROUGHOUT WILL ONLY BE
IN THE 50S WITH SOME LOW 60S SCATTERED IN SOUTHERN IOWA. LOWS WILL
BE IN THE 30S ALL WEEK AS WELL...WITH NEAR AND BELOW FREEZING LOWS
ACROSS NORTHERN IOWA AND AS FAR SOUTH AS CENTRAL IOWA BY MID WEEK.
