...STORM DAMAGE SURVEY TEAMS TO BE DEPLOYED FRIDAY...

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STORM DAMAGE SURVEY TEAMS WILL BE
DEPLOYED TO WORK WITH EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND ASSESS THE DAMAGE
THAT HAS OCCURRED FROM THE APRIL 9TH STORMS. AT THIS TIME...THREE
SURVEY TEAMS ARE PLANNED TO BE DEPLOYED TO NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS.
THESE TEAMS WILL DETERMINE THE LOCATIONS AND MAGNITUDES OF THE
TORNADOES THAT OCCURRED.

THEY PLAN TO SURVEY TRACKS OF SUPERCELL STORMS THAT PRODUCED AT
THE VERY LEAST TWO TORNADOES BASED ON MANY REPORTS FROM TRAINED
SPOTTERS...AND RADAR AND ENVIRONMENTAL EVIDENCE.

ONE PATH INCLUDES FROM NEAR ROCKFORD AIRPORT INTO CHERRY
VALLEY IN WINNEBAGO COUNTY...AND ACROSS BOONE COUNTY.

THE SECOND PATH IS FROM NEAR FRANKLIN GROVE IN LEE COUNTY...TO
NORTH OF ROCHELLE AND HILLCREST...ACROSS INTERSTATE 39 INTO
NORTHWEST DEKALB COUNTY...IN THE COMMUNITY OF FAIRDALE...TO
SOUTHERN BOONE COUNTY...AND TO NEAR HARVARD IN MCHENRY COUNTY.

MORE POTENTIAL PATHS MAY ALSO BE SURVEYED FRIDAY AND INTO THE
WEEKEND. RESULTS WILL BE POSTED ON OUR WEB SITE
WEATHER.GOV/CHICAGO AND ON OUR SOCIAL MEDIA SITES AS THEY BECOME
AVAILABLE.
