HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL FORECAST DISCUSSION
NWS NORTH CENTRAL RIVER FORECAST CENTER TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN MN
1153 AM CDT TUE MAY 5 2015

...PRECIPITATION...

DURING THE LAST 24 HOURS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MOVED ACROSS
IOWA.. NORTHERN MISSOURI.. SOUTHERN WISCONSIN.. NORTHERN
ILLINOIS.. SOUTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHERN INDIANA. SOUTHEASTERN
IOWA.. NORTHEASTERN MISSOURI AND NORTHERN ILLINOIS GOT HIT THE
HARDEST WITH REPORTS RANGING FROM 1-4 INCHES.

DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS WE ARE EXPECTING UP TO AN INCH OF RAIN
OVER SOUTHERN MICHIGAN AND NORTHERN INDIANA.

...HYDROLOGIC CONDITIONS...

MINOR FLOODING IS OCCURRING ON THE SOURIS RIVER IN NORTH
DAKOTA AT TOWNER AND BANTRY. THE SOURIS WILL
REMAIN AT ELEVATED FLOWS FOR SOME TIME AND ANY SIGNIFICANT
RAINFALL A FEW DAYS OUT COULD PUSH LEVELS TO MODERATE FLOODING
AGAIN. POTENTIAL HEAVY CONVECTION THROUGH THE MID PORTION OF
THE NCRFC COULD CREATE SMALL STREAM FLOODING. SO FAR DEWITT ON
THE WAPSIPINICON RIVER IS FORECAST TO RISE NEAR FLOOD STAGE.

THE U.S. DROUGHT MONITOR INDICATES MODERATE DROUGHT CONDITIONS
CURRENTLY IN EASTERN DAKOTAS...MINNESOTA...AND NORTHERN
WISCONSIN. FOR MUCH OF NORTHWEAST MINNESOTA THERE IS A SEVERE SHORT
AND LONG TERM DROUGHT.

A WET PERIOD FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS COULD BEGIN TO HELP ALLEVIATE
THIS CONDITION.
