FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
243 PM PDT TUE MAY 5 2015

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...UPPER LEVEL LOW PRES WILL MOVE THROUGH
THE REGION TONIGHT AND WED...BRINGING SHOWERS...COOLER TEMPS...
AND POSSIBLY SOME ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. THE UPPER LOW WILL
DRIFT SOUTH OF THE REGION BY THU. THEN EXPECT WARMER AND DRIER
CONDITIONS THU THROUGH AT LEAST SAT. ANOTHER UPPER LOW WILL
LIKELY BRING MORE SHOWERS LATE IN THE WEEKEND OR EARLY NEXT
WEEK.

.DISCUSSION...A COLD UPPER LEVEL LOW PRES SYSTEM IS CENTERED
OVER SOUTHERN BRITISH COLUMBIA THIS AFTERNOON. THE SYSTEM IS
BRINGING SHOWERS AND COOLER TEMPS TO SW WASHINGTON AND NW
OREGON TODAY. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS HAVE BEEN DETECTED
FURTHER NORTH OVER NORTHERN AND CENTRAL WASHINGTON...AND THERE
IS STILL A CHANCE THAT THERE MAY BE A LIGHTNING STRIKE OR TWO
OVER SW WASHINGTON OR FAR NW OREGON LATER THIS AFTERNOON. THE
LOW AND ASSOCIATED COLD POOL WILL BE FURTHER SOUTH TOMORROW...
WHICH MAY BRING THE POTENTIAL FOR ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH
MOST OF THE FCST DISTRICT. BY THU...THE LOW PRES WILL BE WELL
SOUTH OF THE REGION. THERE MAY BE A COUPLE OF LINGERING SHOWERS
EARLY THU OVER THE LANE COUNTY CASCADES...BUT THE TREND
WILL BE TOWARD WARMER AND DRIER WEATHER...WHICH WILL CONTINUE
AT LEAST THROUGH SAT AS AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE MOVES THROUGH THE
PAC NW. SHOWER POTENTIAL LOOKS LIKELY TO RETURN LATE IN THE WEEKEND
OR EARLY NEXT WEEK...BUT FCST CONFIDENCE BEYOND SAT IS NOT ALL
THAT HIGH WITH SIGNIFICANT MODEL DIFFERENCES AT THIS TIME. PYLE
