FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
255 PM PDT WED MAY 6 2015

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...UPPER LEVEL LOW PRES IS DRIFTING
SOUTH THROUGH THE REGION TODAY. ASSOCIATED SHOWERS WILL
CONTINUE INTO THIS EVENING...AND THERE IS STILL A SLIGHT
CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING HOURS.
SHOWERS TO TAPER OFF LATER TONIGHT. THE LOW WILL BE WELL
SOUTH OF THE REGION THU. EXPECT WARMER AND DRIER WEATHER
IN NORTHERLY FLOW THU...WITH TEMPS WARMING FURTHER FOR
FRI AND THE WEEKEND AS UPPER LEVEL RIDGING MOVES THROUGH.
SHOWERS AND POSSIBLY THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL TO RETURN AT
SOME POINT EARLY NEXT WEEK.

.DISCUSSION...AN UPPER LEVEL LOW DRIFTING SLOWLY THROUGH
THE REGION TODAY IS BRINGING CONTINUED SHOWERS...MAINLY
OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF THE CASCADES AND COAST RANGE.
A WEAK CAPPING INVERSION AND GREATER THAN EXPECTED CLOUD
COVER TODAY HAVE PREVENTED MUCH CONVECTION OVER THE
LOWLANDS. THERE IS STILL A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR A FEW
THUNDERSTORMS DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING
...BUT CONFIDENCE IS NOT AS HIGH AT THIS POINT. SHOWERS WILL
TAPER OFF SIGNIFICANTLY LATER THIS EVENING AFTER SUNSET.
THE LOW WILL BE WELL SOUTH OF THE REGION INTO CENTRAL CALIF
THU...BRINGING A RETURN TO DRY NORTHERLY FLOW AND WARMER
WEATHER. AN SHARP UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL MOVE THROUGH THE
PAC NW FRI THROUGH THE WEEKEND...WHICH WILL WARM
TEMPS EVEN FURTHER. EXPECT HIGHS FRI THROUGH SUN TO BE WELL
ABOVE NORMAL. A CLOSED LOW WILL DRIFT TOWARD THE REGION LATE
IN THE WEEKEND OR EARLY NEXT WEEK...BRINGING SHOWER AND
POSSIBLY THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL. HOWEVER...CONFIDENCE IN THE
TIMING AND PROGRESSION OF THE CLOSED LOW IS LOW AT THIS POINT
IN TIME. PYLE
