WATER VAPOR IMAGERY SHOWS AN UPPER LEVEL LOW NEAR 27N167W...OR ABOUT
600 MILES NORTHWEST OF LIHUE. THIS LOW IS MOVING TO THE NORTHEAST AT
10 MPH. BROKEN LAYERED CLOUDS ARE LOCATED WITHIN A BAND AROUND 300
MILES WIDE...LOCATED EAST OF A LINE FROM 30N166W TO 26N165W TO
19N170W. ISOLATED CUMULONIMBUS CLOUDS ARE EMBEDDED WITHIN THE
LAYERED CLOUDS...WITH TOPS EXTENDING UP TO 40000 FT. ADDITIONAL
ISOLATED CUMULONIMBUS CLOUDS ARE LOCATED ELSEWHERE WITHIN 200 MILES
OF THE LOW. CLOUD TOPS IN THIS AREA EXTEND UP TO 30000 FT.

AN AREA OF THIN CIRRUS AND CIRROSTRATUS CLOUDS IS LOCATED FARTHER
SOUTH...GENERALLY WITHIN 200 MILES SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST OF A LINE
FROM 21N140W TO 23N151W TO 21N158W TO 10N163W. THESE HIGH CLOUDS ARE
MOVING TO THE EAST AT 60 TO 80 MPH EAST OF 150W...AND TO THE
NORTHEAST AT 40 TO 60 MPH WEST OF 150W.

BROKEN TO OVERCAST LOW CLOUDS ARE LOCATED FARTHER EAST...AND ARE
GREATEST IN COVERAGE FROM 16N TO 26N EAST OF 151W. THESE CLOUDS ARE
COMPOSED PRIMARILY OF STABLE CLOSED CELL CUMULUS ELEMENTS. TO THE
SOUTH AND WEST OF THIS AREA...CLOUDS TRANSITION TO MORE SHOWERY OPEN
CELL CUMULUS ELEMENTS. CLOUD MOTIONS ARE TO THE WEST AT 15 TO 25 MPH
SOUTH OF 20N...AND TO THE WEST AND NORTHWEST AT 10 TO 20 MPH NORTH
OF 20N.

ACROSS THE MAIN HAWAIIAN ISLANDS...THE HIGH CLOUDS MENTIONED ABOVE
COVER MAUI COUNTY AND THE BIG ISLAND...BUT ARE THIN ENOUGH FOR LOW
CLOUD FEATURES TO BE APPARENT. BROKEN LOW CLOUDS COVER THE INTERIOR
OF KAUAI...WITH AREAS OF MID-LEVEL CLOUDS COVERING MUCH OF THE
ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS. BROKEN TO OVERCAST LOW CLOUDS COVER THE
INTERIOR OF OAHU...AND EXTEND 20 MILES OFFSHORE TO THE WEST AND
NORTHWEST. BROKEN LOW CLOUDS COVER THE INTERIOR AND NORTHERN
SECTIONS OF LANAI...AS WELL AS MUCH OF LANAI. BROKEN LOW CLOUDS ALSO
COVER THE INTERIOR AND SOUTHERN SECTIONS OF THE WEST MAUI
MOUNTAINS...AND LOWER SLOPES OF HALEAKALA BELOW 7000 FT.

ON THE BIG ISLAND...BROKEN LOW AND MID LEVEL CLOUDS COVER INLAND
SECTIONS OF NORTH AND SOUTH KOHALA DISTRICT...AS WELL AS LOWER
SLOPES OF HAMAKUA DISTRICT BELOW 8000 FT. BROKEN TO OVERCAST CLOUDS
COVER MUCH OF NORTH AND SOUTH HILO AND PUNA DISTRICT...AS WELL AS
KAU DISTRICT BELOW 9000 FT. BROKEN TO OVERCAST LOW CLOUDS ALSO COVER
NORTH AND SOUTH KONA DISTRICTS BELOW 9000 FT. PATCHES OF SCATTERED
TO BROKEN CLOUDS ARE ALSO LOCATED OVER THE SADDLE BETWEEN MAUNA KEA
AND MAUNA LOA...EXTENDING UP TO 12000 FT.
