RANGELAND FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SIOUX FALLS SD
515 AM CDT FRI APR 24 2015

.DISCUSSION...
HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL INCREASE ACROSS THE REGION TODAY AS MOISTURE
STREAMS NORTHWARD ON BREEZY SOUTH WINDS. MINIMUM HUMIDITY WILL BE
IN THE 40-50 PERCENT RANGE OVER MOST OF SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA AND
SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA...AND 50-60 PERCENT IN NORTHWEST IOWA AND FAR
NORTHEAST NEBRASKA. DESPITE THE HIGHER HUMIDITY...SOUTHERLY WIND
GUSTS OF 20-30 MPH WILL STILL RESULT IN HIGH GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER
FOR MOST SOUTH DAKOTA AND MINNESOTA DISTRICTS TODAY. THE HIGHER
HUMIDITY IN IOWA WILL COINCIDE WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS THROUGHOUT
THE DAY...WITH MORE WIDESPREAD RAIN SHOWERS EXPECTED TO SPREAD
INTO THE AREA TONIGHT.

DRIER CONDITIONS WILL RETURN TO THE REGION SUNDAY AND PERSIST
THROUGH MUCH OF THE NEXT WEEK. WILL HAVE TO WATCH FOR ELEVATED
FIRE DANGER CONCERNS BY SUNDAY...AND AGAIN BY LATE NEXT WEEK.

USUALLY LOWER AND THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY IS HIGHER.
