RANGELAND FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SIOUX FALLS SD
1245 PM CDT SUN MAY 3 2015

.DISCUSSION...
AS A FRONTAL ZONE MOVES ACROSS THE AREA TODAY...SOUTHERLY WINDS
WILL SHIFT AROUND TO NORTH AND BECOME A GUSTY 20 TO 35 MPH. WHEN
COMBINED WITH RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF 22 TO 32 PERCENT...THIS WILL
LEAD TO A VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER TODAY NORTHWEST OF A LAKE ANDES...
TO SIOUX FALLS TO SLAYTON MINNESOTA LINE. FURTHER EAST ALONG THE
COLD FRONT BY LATE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING...SCATTERED
THUNDERSTORMS WILL PROVIDE SOME WETTING RAINFALL SOUTHEAST OF A
JACKSON TO VERMILLION LINE.

AS THE FRONT IS DRIVEN SOUTHWARD TONIGHT AND MONDAY...SOME DRIER
AIR WILL ONCE AGAIN INVADE THE AREA...BUT THE SOUTHWARD PUSH WILL
BE LIMITED AS RAINFALL WILL START TO RETURN NORTHWARD INTO THE
MISSOURI VALLEY LATE MONDAY. IN FACT...MUCH OF THE UPCOMING WEEK
LOOKS TO OFFER PERIODS OF WETTING RAINFALL.

CONSIDER POSTPONING BURNING DUE TO THE VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER.
