ANALYSIS CONFIDENCE...MODERATE TO HIGH

SYNOPSIS...A LOW OVER BRISTOL BAY WILL SHIFT OVER THE GULF OF ALASKA
SATURDAY. A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL MOVE OVER THE WESTERN BERING
SEA LATE FRIDAY AND SHIFT EAST ACROSS THE BERING SEA THROUGH THE
WEEKEND. ANOTHER WEAK LOW WILL MOVE OVER THE WESTERN BERING SEA
SUNDAY... SLOWLY SHIFTING OVER THE CENTRAL BERING SEA THROUGH
WEDNESDAY.

THE MAIN ICE EDGE LIES FROM A POINT NEAR THE KUSKOKWIM DELTA TO
59.6N 164.2W TO 58.4N 166.8W TO 57.6N 170.1W TO 57.6N 171.1W TO
60.7N 179.4W TO 60.8N 178.7E AND CONTINUES ALONG THE RUSSIAN COAST.
THE ICE EDGE IS OPEN WATER.

FORECAST THROUGH WEDNESDAY FOR THE BERING SEA...NORTHERLY TO
NORTHWESTERLY FLOW IS EXPECTED OVER MUCH OF THE ICE EDGE THROUGH
SATURDAY... WITH WIND FLOW BECOMING SOUTHEASTERLY TO EASTERLY SUNDAY
THROUGH WEDNESDAY. THE ICE EDGE IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD APART TO THE
SOUTHEAST THROUGH SATURDAY. AS WINDS BECOME SOUTHEASTERLY TO
EASTERLY ON SUNDAY MUCH OF THE ICE PACK WILL COMPACT ALONG THE
SOUTHERN EDGE AND THE ICE PACK WILL RETREAT TO THE NORTHWEST.
OVERALL THE ICE EDGE IS EXPECTED TO SEE A NET RETREAT TO THE
NORTHWEST 5 TO 15 NM THROUGH WEDNESDAY.
