.SYNOPSIS...

A WEAK LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVING INLAND THROUGH SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
TODAY WILL MAINTAIN STRONGER ONSHORE FLOW WITH MINOR INLAND
COOLING...GUSTY WEST WINDS IN THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS...AND A DEEP
MARINE LAYER WITH NIGHT AND MORNING COASTAL LOW CLOUDS AND FOG
EXTENDING INLAND ONTO THE LOWER COASTAL MOUNTAIN SLOPES. FOR
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY...A COLD LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM FROM THE NORTH WILL
BRING ADDITIONAL INLAND COOLING... STRONGER GUSTY WEST WINDS IN THE
MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS AND PERIODS OF SHOWERS. THE MOST WIDESPREAD
SHOWER COVERAGE IS EXPECTED FOR LATE THURSDAY THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY.
THERE WILL ALSO BE A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. DRY WITH A
WARMING TREND FOR SATURDAY THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK UNDER HIGH
PRESSURE.

COUNTIES...

.SHORT TERM (TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY)...

A WEAK LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE INLAND THROUGH SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
TODAY MAINTAINING STRONGER ONSHORE FLOW BRINGING A DEEPER MARINE
LAYER WITH NIGHT AND MORNING COASTAL LOW CLOUDS EXTENDING ONTO THE
LOWER COASTAL MOUNTAIN SLOPES...A FEW DEGREES OF INLAND
COOLING...AND LOCALLY STRONG GUSTY WEST WINDS IN THE DESERTS.

FOR THURSDAY AND FRIDAY...A COLD LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM FROM THE NORTH
WILL MOVE INTO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA EARLY THURSDAY...INTO SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY...AND INTO ARIZONA SATURDAY.
LIGHTER SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE ALONG AND WEST OF THE MOUNTAINS LATE
TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY. THE MOST WIDESPREAD SHOWER COVERAGE IS
EXPECTED TO SPREAD SOUTHWARD ACROSS FAR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA THURSDAY
NIGHT AND CONTINUE INTO EARLY FRIDAY. WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS WILL
CONTINUE INTO FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND END FRIDAY NIGHT. THERE IS ALSO A
SLIGHT CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS FOR THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY. SNOW
LEVELS WILL LOWER TO 6000 TO 6500 FEET FOR LATE TONIGHT INTO
THURSDAY...AND 5500 TO 6000 FEET FOR THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY.

FOR ORANGE COUNTY...THE INLAND EMPIRE...AND SURROUNDING MOUNTAINS...
RAINFALL AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM LESS THAN ONE QUARTER
INCH NEAR THE COAST TO ONE HALF TO LOCALLY ONE INCH IN THE
MOUNTAINS. FOR SAN DIEGO COUNTY...AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM
LESS THAN ONE QUARTER INCH NEAR THE COAST...TO ONE QUARTER TO
LOCALLY ONE HALF IN IN THE MOUNTAINS. AMOUNTS OF LESS THAN ONE
QUARTER INCH ARE EXPECTED FOR THE UPPER DESERTS.

.LONG TERM (SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY)...

UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE CENTERED NEAR THE FOUR CORNERS WILL MOVE
EASTWARD ON SATURDAY WITH DRYING AND SLOW WARMING. HIGH PRESSURE
WILL BRING WARMING FOR SUNDAY WITH SLOW COOLING FOR MONDAY AND
TUESDAY AS A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES INLAND TO THE NORTH.

.AVIATION...

060900Z...COAST/VALLEYS...AREAS OF LOW CLOUDS...WITH BASES BETWEEN
2500-3500 FT MSL AND TOPS TO 4500 FT MSL...HAVE SPREAD INLAND TO THE
COASTAL MTN SLOPES. LOW CLOUDS MAY OBSCURE TERRAIN ABV 3000 FT.
EXPECT CLEARING BETWEEN 17Z AND 20Z TODAY. LOW CLOUDS WILL AGAIN
RETURN TO THE COASTAL AREAS THIS EVENING WITH SIMILAR TOPS AND
BASES...SPREADING INLAND TO THE COASTAL SLOPES OVERNIGHT.

MTNS/DESERTS..STRONG AND GUSTY WEST WINDS WILL PRODUCE MODERATE
UDDFS/LLWS OVER AND EAST OF THE MTNS THROUGH 15Z TODAY.
OTHERWISE...MOSTLY SKC THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING.

200 AM...A DISTURBANCE MOVING ACROSS THE REGION WILL CREATE A CHANCE
OF THUNDERSTORMS AND ISOLATED CLOUD-TO-WATER LIGHTNING STRIKES OVER
THE COASTAL WATERS THU NIGHT INTO FRI MORNING. OTHERWISE...NO
HAZARDOUS MARINE WEATHER IS EXPECTED THROUGH SUNDAY.

200 AM...TODAY...SURF WILL BE MOSTLY 5 TO 7 FT WITH SETS
8 TO 10 FT AT FAVORED LOCATIONS. SURF WILL CONTINUE TO SUBSIDE
THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK AS THE SOUTH SWELL DECREASES.
STRONG RIP AND LONG SHORE CURRENTS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE END OF
THE WEEK.
