FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL/NORTHERN VERMONT AND
NORTHERN NEW YORK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BURLINGTON VT
643 AM EDT SUN MAY 3 2015

...MODERATELY LOW TO NEAR CRITICAL AFTERNOON HUMIDITIES TODAY AND MONDAY...

.DISCUSSION...
UNDER A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE EXPECT PERSISTENT LIGHT
SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW ALONG WITH VARIABLE CLOUD COVER INCREASING
THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS FOR TODAY ARE THE LOW
AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITIES IN THE 20 TO 27 PERCENT RANGE.
MODERATE 5-10KT WINDS HOWEVER WILL PREVENT RED FLAG CONDITIONS.
LOW TO CRITICAL RH`S WILL CONTINUE TO FURTHER DRY FINE FUELS TODAY
SO CARE NEEDS BE TAKEN FOR ANY OPEN BURNING. LATE IN THE AFTERNOON
WE COULD SEE SOME ISOLATED SHOWERS DEVELOP ACROSS SOUTHERN AND
EASTERN VERMONT HOWEVER ANY AREAL COVERAGE WILL REMAIN SPARSE AND
THE SHOWERS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO PRODUCE ANY SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL
SO THE FINE DEAD FUELS WILL LIKELY REMAIN DRY. TOMORROW WE WILL
CONTINUE TO SEE DRY AFTERNOON CONDITIONS HOWEVER THERE WILL BE AND
ADDED THREAT OF SOME POTENTIALLY GUSTY WINDS AS THE WINDS JUST
AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT DROPPING SOUTH FROM CANADA WILL LIKELY BRING
20-25KT GUSTS FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST. THAT SAID THE DRIEST
AIR WILL LIKELY BE JUST FAR ENOUGH TO THE EAST THAT THE GUSTY
WINDS WILL NOT LIKELY OVERLAP THE CRITICAL RH MINIMUMS SO FOR THE
TIME BEING WE HAVE NOT ISSUED ANY KIND OF FIRE WEATHER WATCH.
