THE MONTH STARTED OUT ACTIVE... WITH WINTER STORMS DEPOSITING
MEASURABLE SNOW ON THE 1ST THROUGH THE 4TH AND TEMPERATURES BELOW
AVERAGE. TEMPERATURES THEN WARMED CLOSER TO NORMAL FOR UNDER A WEEK
WITH ZERO OR TRACE AMOUNTS OF PRECIPITATION RECORDED FROM THE 5TH
THROUGH THE 10TH. TEMPERATURES THEN FELL MUCH BELOW NORMAL FOR MOST
OF THE REMAINDER OF THE MONTH... AND ACTIVE WEATHER DOMINATED. SNOW
FALL WAS RECORDED ON MOST DAYS THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR GRAND RAPIDS IN FEBRUARY WAS 13.3
DEGREES. THIS WAS THE COLDEST FEBRUARY ON RECORD. THE PREVIOUS
RECORD WAS 14.0 DEGREES FROM 1904. LANSING WITH A VALUE OF 11.4
DEGREES EXPERIENCED ITS 4TH COLDEST FEBRUARY ON RECORD. MUSKEGAN
HAD ITS 6TH COLDEST FEBRUARY WITH 15.9 DEGREES. MANY DAILY RECORD
TEMPERATURES WERE ALSO SET IN FEBRUARY 2015.

PRECIPITATION TOTALS VARIED FROM HALF AN INCH UP TO 2 INCHES FOR
FEBRUARY 2015. THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS WERE IN FAR SOUTHWEST LOWER
MICHIGAN WITH VALUES FALLING OFF TO THE NORTHEAST. THE SOUTHWEST SAW
CLOSE TO NORMAL PRECIPITATION WITH VALUES ONLY ABOUT HALF OF NORMAL
LEVELS RECORDED IN THE NORTHEAST.

SNOWFALL IN FEBRUARY 2015 RANGED FROM 20 TO 30 INCHES ACROSS THE
WESTERN THIRD OF LOWER MICHIGAN WITH 15 TO 20 INCHES ACROSS
SOUTHEAST LOWER MICHIGAN. LESSER AMOUNTS FELL IN NORTHEAST LOWER.
SOUTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN ENDED UP WITH CLOSE TO TWICE THEIR NORMAL
SNOWFALL WITH TOTALS CLOSE TO NORMAL ACROSS NORTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN.
