FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UTAH
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT
417 AM MDT SUN MAY 3 2015

...SIMILAR CONDITIONS TODAY AS YESTERDAY...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...A SOMEWHAT MOIST AND UNSTABLE WEST TO
SOUTHWEST FLOW WILL REMAIN OVER THE DISTRICT THROUGH THE MIDDLE
OF NEXT WEEK. ISOLATED TO WIDELY SEPARATED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
ARE POSSIBLE EACH AFTERNOON AND EVENING. MORE WIND PRODUCERS
THAN RAIN.

.DISCUSSION...LITTLE CHANGE FROM WHAT OCCURRED YESTERDAY ACROSS THE
REGION WITH ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS AND HIGH BASED SHOWERS. THE
LOW LAYERS OF THE ATMOSPHERE REMAIN DRY SO ONCE AGAIN THESE STORMS
WILL BE MORE WIND PRODUCERS THAN RAIN PRODUCERS. AN INCREASE IN
MOISTURE IS EXPECTED MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY BUT DYNAMICS ALOFT
REMAIN WEAK SO THESE WILL LIKELY BE TERRAIN DRIVEN STORMS AS WELL.
A STRONGER TROUGH IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO THE WESTERN GREAT BASIN
THURSDAY WHICH HAS BEEN TRENDING SLOWER EACH MODEL RUN. THIS
TROUGH WILL TAP SOMEWHAT DRIER AIR THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY ACROSS
SOUTHERN AND EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE CWA SO ONLY SLIGHT CHANCE OF
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. THE CORE OF THE SYSTEM MOVES NORTHEAST
ACROSS THE CWA SATURDAY FOR THE BEST CHANCE OF WETTING RAINS AND
THAT WILL BE MAINLY CENTRAL AND NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE CWA. A
RIDGE MOVES IN THE END THE WEEKEND.

***THUNDERSTORMS IMPLY STRONG GUSTY AND ERRATIC WINDS***
***ALL WINDS ARE 20 FOOT...10-MINUTE AVERAGES***
