HAWAIIAN ISLANDS SATELLITE INTERPRETATION MESSAGE

BASED ON DATA THROUGH 1800 UTC MAY 03 2015

SCATTERED CLOUDS ARE BEING CARRIED IN ON THE TRADE WIND FLOW
UPSTREAM OF THE SMALLER ISLANDS THIS MORNING...WHILE MORE CLOUDS ARE
FOUND UPSTREAM OF THE BIG ISLAND. THESE CLOUDS ARE MOVING IN FROM
THE EAST BETWEEN 15 AND 20 MPH.

VISIBLE IMAGERY AT 8 AM SHOWS SCATTERED CLOUDS OVER THE INTERIOR OF
KAUAI...AND SPREADING TO THE EASTERN COAST. ON OAHU...LOW CLOUDS ARE
CONCENTRATED ON THE EAST FACING SLOPES OF THE KOOLAU MOUNTAINS.
MOLOKAI HAS A COUPLE CLOUDS OVER THE HALAWA VALLEY ON THE EASTERN
END OF THE ISLAND...AND LANAI HAS A CLOUD OR TWO OVER THE EAST
FACING SLOPES. ON MAUI...CLOUDS ARE CONCENTRATED OVER THE EAST
FACING SLOPES OF THE MAUI MOUNTAINS...AND OVER THE EAST FACING
SLOPES OF HALEAKALA FROM HUELO TO HANA TO KAUPO. THE CLOUDS OVER
HALEAKALA EXTEND TO THE SOUTH OVER MUCH OF THE ALENUIHAHA
CHANNEL...AND THEN TO THE EAST SIDE OF THE BIG ISLAND. JUST A COUPLE
OF CLOUDS ARE OVER THE EAST FACING SLOPES OF THE KOHALA MOUNTAINS ON
THE BIG ISLAND...BUT CLOUDS BLANKET THE SLOPES FROM OOKALA TO CAPE
KUMUKAHI TO AREA NEAR VOLCANO ALONG THE WESTERN BOUNDARY OF THE PUNA
DISTRICT. ADDITIONAL BROKEN CLOUDS ARE FOUND OVER THE KAU DISTRICT
AT 8 AM. A FEW CLOUDS ARE FOUND OVER THE SOUTH AND NORTH KONA
DISTRICTS.
