...SYNOPSIS...
A MIDLEVEL TROUGH WILL CONTINUE TO AMPLIFY ACROSS THE PAC NW INTO
NRN CA WITH A LEAD SHORTWAVE MOVING INTO THE NRN PLAINS. STRONG
S-SWLY WINDS WILL OCCUR ACROSS THE SRN PLAINS TO THE S OF A
DEEPENING LEE SFC LOW...BUT WIDESPREAD WETTING RAINS WILL MITIGATE
FIRE WEATHER POTENTIAL ACROSS THE REGION. DRY OFFSHORE FLOW WILL
PERSIST ACROSS NEW ENGLAND WITH POLAR WLYS POSITIONED OVER THE
REGION...CREATING ELEVATED TO CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS FOR
MUCH OF MAINE.

THE LARGE-SCALE WEATHER PATTERN WILL REMAIN SIMILAR TO TUE/D1...BUT
WITH STRONGER LOW-LEVEL FLOW /E.G. 30-35 KT AT 850 MB/ OVERSPREADING
THE REGION ALONG THE SRN PERIPHERY OF ENHANCED POLAR WLYS. AS A
RESULT...HIGHER CONFIDENCE IN SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF 20-25
MPH...WITH GUSTS TO 45 MPH...COMBINED WITH DRY OFFSHORE FLOW
YIELDING MID-20S RH VALUES WILL SUPPORT A CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER
RISK. LIGHT PRECIPITATION TOTALS HAVE ALSO BEEN OBSERVED OVER THE
PAST WEEK WHILE CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN WARM/DRY...LEADING TO
ADDITIONAL DRYING OF FINE FUELS. SLIGHTLY WEAKER WIND SPEEDS /15 TO
NEAR 20 MPH/ MAY BE OBSERVED ACROSS DOWN EAST MAINE INTO FAR NRN
NH...WHERE AN ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER RISK WILL EXIST.
