A RED FLAG WARNING FOR PORTIONS OF EASTERN IOWA IS IN EFFECT FROM
1 PM TO 7 PM CDT TODAY. THE GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER INDEX WILL BE IN THE
EXTREME CATEGORY OVER MOST OF THE RED FLAG WARNING AREA...ROUGHLY ALONG AND
WEST OF A LINE FROM MANCHESTER TO MOUNT PLEASANT. EXPECT HIGHS OF 75 TO 80 IN
THESE AREAS...WITH SUSTAINED SOUTH WINDS AROUND 25 MPH AND GUSTS AROUND 40 MPH.
AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL DROP NEAR 25 PERCENT.

TO THE EAST OF THE RED FLAG WARNING...THE FIRE DANGER INDEX WILL BE IN
THE VERY HIGH CATEGORY OVER MOST AREAS THIS AFTERNOON...WHERE WINDS WON/T
BE QUITE AS STRONG AND TEMPERATURES WILL NOT BE QUITE AS WARM.

LATER TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY...A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE REGION
WITH SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS...ESPECIALLY LATE TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY
MORNING.
