FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
556 AM AST WED APR 22 2015

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED FOR SOUTH COASTAL
PUERTO RICO AND INTERIOR SAINT CROIX TODAY AND THURSDAY...

UPPER LEVEL RIDGING AND SHARPLY DECREASING MOISTURE LATER TODAY
AND TOMORROW WILL CAUSE RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES ON THE SOUTH
COAST TO DIP BRIEFLY INTO CRITICAL VALUES THIS AFTERNOON AND
TOMORROW AFTERNOON. THE LOWEST RELATIVE HUMIDITIES OF 35 TO 45
PERCENT ARE EXPECTED IN THE SALINAS/CAMP SANTIAGO AREA. STRONGER
AND LONGER PERIODS OF SUNSHINE AND GRADUALLY INCREASING
TEMPERATURES WILL ALSO ENHANCE THE DRYING THAT IS OCCURRING. WINDS
WILL BE LIGHT TO MODERATE TODAY AND TOMORROW. ALTHOUGH SEA BREEZES
MAY BRING WINDS TO CRITICAL LEVELS FOR ONE OR TWO HOURS DURING THE
AFTERNOON...THESE ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO BRING BETTER MOISTURE AFTER
THEY DEVELOP.

ALTHOUGH SOME SHOWERS MAY BE SEEN OVER THE WEEKEND AND EARLY NEXT
WEEK CURRENT MODELS SHOW EVEN DRIER CONDITIONS DEVELOPING LATER
NEXT WEEK.

FIRE AND EMERGENCY OFFICIALS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT WEATHER
CONDITIONS ARE BECOMING MORE CONDUCIVE FOR THE IGNITION AND
SPREAD OF WILDFIRES.

FIRE DANGER STATEMENTS ARE ISSUED WHEN FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE APPROACHING...BUT NOT MEETING OR EXCEEDING...RED FLAG WARNING
CRITERIA.
