AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT
951 PM MDT MON MAY 4 2015

.SYNOPSIS...A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TO THE SOUTH OF UTAH WILL
CONTINUE TO PUMP MOISTURE INTO THE GREAT BASIN THROUGH TUESDAY.
A WEATHER DISTURBANCE WILL MOVE SOUTH OUT OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
AND IMPACT MUCH OF UTAH LATE THIS WEEK.

&&

.DISCUSSION...AN UPPER LEVEL LOW CURRENTLY CENTERED OVER NORTHWEST
ARIZONA WILL CONTINUE TO TRACK EAST OVERNIGHT. SOUTHERLY FLOW AHEAD
OF THIS LOW HAS DRAWN ADDITIONAL MOISTURE INTO THE AREA...WITH
PRECIPITABLE WATER VALUES ESTIMATED BETWEEN 0.5-0.75 INCHES ACROSS
MOST VALLEY AREAS AT THIS TIME. THIS HAS LED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING WHICH PRODUCED BRIEF LOCAL
HEAVY RAIN. EXPECT SOME OF THE SHOWERS TO DIMINISH OVERNIGHT...BUT
SOME WILL LINGER ESPECIALLY ACROSS SOUTHERN UTAH WHICH IS CURRENTLY
SEEING AND WILL CONTINUE TO SEE SOME FORCING NEAR THE CLOSED LOW.

MOISTURE WILL LINGER TOMORROW EVEN AS THE LOW EXITS THROUGH THE FOUR
CORNERS REGION. SCATTERED AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED ONCE
AGAIN BUT MAY SEE A BIT MORE ACTIVITY ACROSS THE SOUTHEASTERN ZONES.

UPDATED FORECAST MAINLY TO MAKE MINOR TWEAKS TO SKY/POP FOR THE
REMAINDER OF THE NIGHT.

&&

.AVIATION...SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL BECOME ESTABLISHED AT THE SLC
TERMINAL BY 04 OR 05Z. UNTIL THEN...THEY MAY REMAIN LIGHT AND
VARIABLE AT TIMES. OTHERWISE...VFR CONDITIONS WILL PERSIST THROUGH
THE NIGHT UNDER MID/HIGH CLOUDS.

&&

.SLC WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
UT...NONE.
WY...NONE.
