ANALYSIS CONFIDENCE...HIGH TO MODERATE

SYNOPSIS...A LARGE LOW NEAR THE CENTRAL ALEUTIAN ISLANDS WILL
CONTINUE TO WEAKEN AS IT SHIFTS OVER THE GULF OF ALASKA LATE THIS
WEEK. A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL SHIFT OVER THE CENTRAL BERING
SEA FRIDAY...AND MOVE OVER THE NORTHERN BERING SEA THIS WEEKEND.
ANOTHER LOW WILL MOVE OVER THE WESTERN ALEUTIAN ISLANDS
SATURDAY...THEN TO THE NORTHERN BERING SEA BY MONDAY.

174.2W TO 59.1N 173.9W TO 62.2N 176.9E AND CONTINUES INTO RUSSIAN
WATERS. THE ICE EDGE IS OPEN WATER TO 7 TENTHS YOUNG...FIRST YEAR
THIN...AND NEW ICE.

FORECAST THROUGH MONDAY FOR THE BERING SEA...WIND FLOW WILL BE LIGHT
THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK. THE LIGHT WIND FLOW WILL ALLOW THE
LOCAL OCEAN CURRENTS TO AID IN MOVING THE ICE PACK TO THE NORTHWEST
AND MELTING OF THE ICE PACK WILL CONTINUE. WINDS WILL INCREASE OUT
OF THE EAST AND THEN THE SOUTH DURING THE WEEKEND AS THE LOW MOVES
NORTHWARD THROUGH THE BERING SEA. THE OVERALL ICE EDGE IS EXPECTED
TO RETREAT TO THE NORTHWEST 20 TO 35 NM THROUGH MONDAY.
