SATELLITE PRECIPITATION ESTIMATES..DATE/TIME 04/02/15 0055Z

LATEST DATA USED: GOES-13 0045Z HEEPS

EVENT...SATELLITE FEATURES FOR MOD-HVY RAINS
.
SATELLITE ANALYSIS AND TRENDS...LATEST IR IMAGERY SHOWS RAPIDLY COOLING
CLOUD-TOPS AND CONVECTIVE INITIATION ALONG THE COLD FRONT ANALYZED FROM
SW MN EXTENDING TO THE SW THRU EXTREME SERN SD/NERN NE THRU CENTRAL
NE. ALTHOUGH MOISTURE HAS BEEN SLOW TO INCREASE IN THE REGION THROUGHOUT
THE DAY...LATEST GPS PW DATA SHOWS A STEADY RISE IN PW VALUES OVER
THE PAST FEW HOURS THAT ARE CLOSE/EXCEEDING 1" IN ERN NE/WRN IA. THIS
IS ATTRIBUTED TO 30-40 KT LLJ SEEN IN LATEST VWP DATA THRU CENTRAL
OK/CENTRAL AND ERN KS/ERN NE. GOES SOUNDER ALSO INDICATES CAPE VALUES
REACHING 1000-2000 J/KG LIKELY DUE TO INCREASED MOISTURE FLUX/DAYTIME
HEATING. THIS ALONG WITH NEARLY UNIDIRECTIONAL SWRLY FLOW SEEN IN 02/00Z
RAOB FROM OAX SETS THE STAGE FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF TRAINING/BACK-BUILDING
CONVECTION AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT FROM S CENTRAL NE EXTENDING TO THE
NE THRU ERN NE INTO WRN IA.
.
AN ANNOTATED SATELLITE GRAPHIC SHOWING THE HEAVY PRECIPITATION
THREAT AREA SHOULD BE AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET ADDRESS LISTED
BELOW IN APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MINUTES.
.
SHORT TERM OUTLOOK VALID 0100Z-0400Z...MEDIUM CONFIDENCE FACTOR
IN SHORT TERM OUTLOOK...CONVECTION SHOULD CONTINUE TO DEVELOP/ORGANIZE AS
COLD FRONT CONTINUES TO PUSH TO THE SE INTO AREA OF INCREASED MOISTURE
FLUX/HIGHER INSTABILITY. AS LLJ ADVECTS MORE MOIST/UNSTABLE AIR INTO
SERN NE/SWRN IA IMAGINE THAT PRECIP RATES MAY APPROACH AND EXCEED 1"/HR
ESPECIALLY UNDER SLOW-MOVING CONVECTIVE CELLS. ANTICIPATE MOST LIKELY AREA
OF TRAINING CONVECTION TO BE IN SERN NE ASSOCIATED WITH WEAKEST CORFIDI
VECTORS/MOST UNIDIRECTIONAL FLOW. THIS MAY ESPECIALLY BE PROBLEMATIC
WITH 3 HR FFG VALUES IN MUCH OF THE AREA OF DISCUSSION NEAR 2.0 IN/3 HR.
