...River Statement For The Black Warrior River...

Heavy rainfall during the past 24 hours is producing rises on the
Black Warrior River.  However...levels are expected to
remain below established flood stages...and any overflow along the
river should be of a minor nature.

The Black Warrior River At Selden Lock and Dam.
 Latest Stage:     82.2 Feet AT 8 PM Saturday.
 Flood Stage:      90.0 Feet.
 Forecast:         Crest near 89.2 Feet early Monday afternoon
                   and then begin to fall.

* Impact...At 90.0 feet...Pasture and wood lands begin to flood.
  Livestock should be moved to higher ground at stages above 90 feet.



Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for later
statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected today and
tonight.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.

Another statement will be issued Sunday morning...or sooner if
conditions warrant.
