FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MARQUETTE MI
430 AM EDT FRI APR 17 2015

...FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS REMAIN ELEVATED THROUGH TODAY...

.DISCUSSION...A VERY DRY AIRMASS ALONG WITH MUCH ABOVE NORMAL
TEMPERATURES WILL KEEP WILDFIRE CONCERNS ELEVATED TODAY WITH HIGHS
TOPPING OUT IN THE 60S TO THE LOWER 70S. MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY
VALUES...ESPECIALLY OVER THE WESTERN INTERIOR...ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO
DROP TO AROUND 20 PERCENT THIS AFTERNOON. THE ONLY INHIBITING FACTOR
FOR WILDFIRES IS THAT WINDS SHOULD REMAIN RELATIVELY LIGHT...GENERALLY
LESS THAN 15 MPH. EXPECT TEMPERATURES TO COOL THIS WEEKEND...ESPECIALLY
NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR...IN THE WAKE OF A COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE TONIGHT. A
LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DEVELOPING OVER THE PLAINS WILL THEN BRING RAIN
INTO THE AREA SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT WITH WIDESPREAD AMOUNTS OF 0.40
TO 0.75 INCH OF RAIN. AS THE LOW PULLS INCREASINGLY COLDER AIR INTO
THE AREA FROM THE NORTH AND WEST...SCATTERED RAIN SHOWERS WILL MIX
WITH SNOW MONDAY NIGHT...AND THEN CHANGE OVER TO MAINLY SCATTERED
SNOW SHOWERS FOR TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY.
