SYNOPSIS...

THE AVERAGE STATEWIDE PRECIPITATION FOR MARCH 2015 WAS 0.65
INCHES WHICH WAS 0.08 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. THIS WAS THE 58TH WETTEST
MARCH ON RECORD.

2015 STARTED OUT VERY WELL WITH THE AVERAGE STATEWIDE PRECIPITATION
168 PERCENT OF NORMAL. FEBRUARY WAS NOT AS IMPRESSIVE...BUT DID END
UP WITH A STATEWIDE AVERAGE PRECIPITATION OF 106 PERCENT OF NORMAL.
UNLIKE JANUARY...FEBRUARY DELIVERED MUCH NEEDED SNOW TO THE SAN JUAN
AND SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS. A COUPLE SYSTEMS BROUGHT HEAVY RAINS
TO PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN AND EASTERN NEW MEXICO IN MARCH...HOWEVER
SNOWPACK TO A HUGE HIT DUE TO THE WARM AND MAINLY DRY CONDITIONS
ACROSS THE NORTH.

THE 2015 WATER YEAR IS NOW WELL UNDERWAY. THE OCTOBER 2014 THROUGH
MARCH 2015 AVERAGE STATEWIDE PRECIPITATION WAS 108 PERCENT OF
NORMAL...THE 42ND WETTEST ON RECORD.

MARCH 2015 WAS VERY WARM WITH AN AVERAGE STATEWIDE TEMPERATURE
OF 47.7 DEGRESS WHICH WAS 4.3 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THIS WAS THE
10TH WARMEST MARCH ON RECORD.

PRECIPITATION/TEMPERATURE OUTLOOKS...

THE NOAA CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER OUTLOOK FOR NEW MEXICO FOR THE
REST OF THE SPRING SEASON INTO THE EARLY SUMMER...MAY THROUGH
JULY...FAVORS ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION ACROSS THE ENTIRE STATE.
THE TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK FAVORS BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES OVER THE
EASTERN HALF OF NEW MEXICO WITH EQUAL CHANCES OF ABOVE...NEAR
NORMAL...OR BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR WESTERN NEW MEXICO.

RESERVOIR STORAGE REMAINS WELL BELOW NORMAL AT NEARLY ALL LAKES IN
NEW MEXICO...WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SEVERAL STORAGE LOCATIONS ALONG
THE PECOS RIVER BASIN. THE STATEWIDE AVERAGE IS JUST 26 PERCENT OF
CAPACITY AS OF APRIL 1ST.
