...ACTIVE WEATHER SCENARIO ON TAP FOR PORTIONS OF NEW MEXICO...

A WEATHER SYSTEM TAKING SHAPE OVER UTAH WILL MOVE SLOWLY SOUTHEAST
INTO NORTHERN NEW MEXICO THROUGH LATE THIS WEEK. A STRONG COLD FRONT
MOVING SOUTHEAST THROUGH THE AREA TODAY WILL PROMOTE STRONG WINDS AND
FALLING TEMPERATURES. THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR A FEW STRONG STORMS OVER
THE EASTERN PLAINS AHEAD OF THIS FRONT THIS EVENING. HARD FREEZES ARE
LIKELY FOR NORTHERN AND WESTERN VALLEYS TONIGHT...WITH LIGHT FREEZES
FROM SANTA FE SOUTH INTO THE ALBUQUERQUE VALLEY.

WINDY AND COOLER CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY WHILE
SNOW SHOWERS BEGIN IMPACTING THE NORTHERN HIGH TERRAIN. HARD FREEZES
ARE POSSIBLE ONCE AGAIN THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY NIGHT OVER NORTHERN
AND WESTERN VALLEYS AND THE SANTA FE METRO AND ALBUQUERQUE VALLEY.

CONFIDENCE ON THE OVERALL TRACK AND AVAILABLE MOISTURE WITH THE
WEATHER SYSTEM DECREASES CONSIDERABLY FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY.
THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW IN THE HIGH TERRAIN
OF THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS. MEANWHILE...CONDITIONS WILL REMAIN WINDY
FOR MOST OF THE AREA THROUGH THE WEEKEND.

PERSONS WITH TRAVEL OR OUTDOOR PLANS OVER NORTHERN NEW MEXICO TONIGHT
THROUGH SUNDAY SHOULD MONITOR WEATHER.GOV/ABQ...NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR
THEIR FAVORITE MEDIA OUTLET FOR UPDATED FORECASTS AND STATEMENTS ON
THIS WEATHER SYSTEM.
