HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN ACROSS THE REGION TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY. A SLOW MOVING COLD FRONT WILL APPROACH NORTHWEST MAINE LATER TONIGHT...THEN BEGIN TO SETTLE ACROSS NORTHERN MAINE LATER SATURDAY AFTERNOON. GENERALLY EXPECT PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES ACROSS NORTHWEST PORTIONS OF THE FORECAST AREA TONIGHT...WITH MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES ACROSS THE REST OF THE REGION. PARTLY SUNNY SKIES WILL OCCUR ACROSS NORTHERN AREAS SATURDAY...WITH MOSTLY/PARTLY SUNNY SKIES ACROSS THE REST OF THE REGION. LOW TEMPERATURES TONIGHT WILL RANGE FROM THE LOWER TO MID 30S NORTH...TO THE MID 30S DOWNEAST. HIGH TEMPERATURES SATURDAY WILL RANGE FROM THE LOWER TO MID 60S ACROSS MUCH OF THE FORECAST AREA...WITH COOLER MID 50S ALONG THE DOWNEAST COAST WHERE ONSHORE WINDS WILL DEVELOP. && .SHORT TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/... WEAK HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE REGION WILL BRING A CLEAR TO PARTLY CLOUDY AND TRANQUIL NIGHT SATURDAY NIGHT. SUNDAY WILL BE SUNNY TO PARTLY CLOUDY AND WARM AS THE RIDGE REMAINS OVER THE AREA WITH HIGHS GENERALLY IN THE MID TO UPPER 60S. A VERY WEAK SHORTWAVE RIPPLING OVER THE RIDGE AND SLIDING INTO SOUTHWESTERN MAINE LATE SUNDAY MAY BRING AN ISOLATED SHOWER OR THUNDERSTORM TO WESTERN AREAS OR THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS LATE SUNDAY. OTHERWISE, SUNDAY WILL BE MAINLY DRY. SUNDAY NIGHT WILL BE MILD. AN INCREASING SOUTHWESTERLY WIND AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT ON MONDAY WILL PULL EVEN WARMER AIR INTO THE AREA. MONDAY WILL BEGIN MOSTLY SUNNY THEN CLOUDS WILL INCREASE AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING COLD FRONT. THE GFS IS QUICKEST WITH THE FRONT BRINGING SHOWERS INTO WESTERN AND NORTHERN AREAS BY THE END OF THE DAY MONDAY. THE ECMWF AND NAM ARE SLOWER KEEPING MONDAY DRY. TOOK A COMPROMISE AND BROUGHT A CHANCE OF SHOWERS IN NORTHERN AND WESTERN AREAS LATE IN THE DAY. TEMPS WILL LIKELY REACH THE LOW TO MID 70S MONDAY BEFORE CLOUDS INCREASE WITH THE COLD FRONT LATE IN THE DAY. && .LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/... A COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT. A COOLER AIR MASS ALONG WITH HIGH PRESSURE IS EXPECTED TO BUILD IN BEHIND THE FRONT TUESDAY.
