...ICE MOVING ON THE MAINSTEM RIVERS WITH RISES...

ICE MOVEMENT SETTING UP ON THE MAINSTEM RIVERS DUE TO THE MILD
TEMPERATURES AND SNOWMELT. THIS WAS MOST SIGNIFICANT ACROSS THE
PISCATAQUIS AND PENOBSCOT BASINS WITH OPEN WATER. ICE MOVEMENT
ALSO HAS TAKEN PLACE ON THE ALLAGASH RIVER, BUT ICE STILL REMAINS
SOLID ON THE ST. JOHN AND AROOSTOOK RIVER AT THIS TIME. SOME OPEN
CHANNELS HAVE BEEN NOTED ON THESE RIVERS WITH SOME THINNING OF THE
ICE. COOLER TEMPERATURES WILL HELP TO SLOW DOWN THE ICE MOVEMENT
AND RISES OVERNIGHT.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY.

MILD WEATHER IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE REST OF THIS WEEK.
RUNOFF MOSTLY FROM SNOWMELT WILL CONTINUE ON AREA RIVERS AND STREAMS.
THIS WILL LEAD TO RISES AND THE POTENTIAL FOR RIVER ICE TO MOVE AND
BREAK UP AND POSSIBLY JAM ESPECIALLY ALONG THE ST. JOHN AND THE
AROOSTOOK RIVERS.

PERSONS WITH INTERESTS ALONG RIVERS AND MAJOR STREAMS SHOULD STAY
TUNED FOR LATER DEVELOPMENTS AND REMAIN ALERT FOR RAPIDLY CHANGING
RIVER CONDITIONS.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

WEATHER SPOTTERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO REPORT SIGNIFICANT WEATHER
CONDITIONS ACCORDING TO STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES.
