.PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 259 AM CDT WED APR 29 2015/

SHORT TERM...
QUIET AND SOMEWHAT CHILLY WEATHER CONDITIONS EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING
FOR THE SOUTH PLAINS AREA. THE WEST TEXAS MESONET STATION NEAR
MULESHOE WAS REPORTING A TEMP OF ONLY 35F...WITH A DEWPOINT TEMP OF
33F. THIS SUGGESTS THAT A COUPLE OF SPOTS ACROSS THE FAR SW TEXAS
PANHANDLE AND WRN SOUTH PLAINS COULD SEE A LIGHT FREEZE THIS
MORNING. WE MAY ALSO SEE SOME PATCHES OF GROUND FOG BEFORE SUNRISE
DUE TO THE CLEAR SKIES...LIGHT WIND...AND MOIST SOIL BUT AT THIS
TIME WE DON/T THINK THE FOG WILL AMOUNT TO MUCH. OTHERWISE...IT WILL
TURN OUT TO BE A NICE LATE APRIL DAY WITH LIGHT WINDS AND HIGHS IN
THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 70S. DRY NORTHERLY FLOW ALOFT WILL KEEP SKIES
MOSTLY SUNNY AND KEEP TEMPS ON THE COOL SIDE OF CLIMATOLOGY. TONIGHT
WILL BE MOSTLY CLEAR. TEMPS WILL BE NOT AS COOL AS PREVIOUS NIGHTS
WITH SURFACE WINDS RETURNING TO A SOUTHERLY FETCH.

LONG TERM...
TEMPERATURES WILL WARM ON THE POSITIVE SIDE OF CLIMATOLOGY AFTER
TODAY WITH RIDGING BUILDING OVERHEAD. THE FORECAST WILL REMAIN DRY
THROUGH THE REST OF THE WEEK WITH MOISTURE STAYING WELL TO THE
SOUTH AND EAST OF THE REGION. THE RIDGE WILL BEGIN TO BREAK DOWN
BY LATE IN THE WEEKEND WITH A FEW WEAK SHORT WAVES TRANSVERSING
THE NORTHERN PERIPHERY. MOISTURE RETURN AHEAD OF THESE SHORTWAVES
WILL BE MEAGER BUT MAY BE ABLE TO SEE JUST ENOUGH TO SPARK SOME
DRYLINE STORMS BY SUNDAY OR MONDAY EVENING. A MUCH STRONGER TROUGH
TAKING SHAPE EARLY NEXT WEEK ACROSS THE SOUTHWESTERN US WILL BE
ABLE TO DRAW RICHER MOISTURE INTO WEST TEXAS. A FAVORABLE TRACK TO
THIS TROUGH...AN INCREASING NEGATIVE TILT...AND A POSSIBLE FRONTAL
INTRUSION AROUND TUESDAY MAY CREATE HEAVY RAIN CHANCES TUESDAY
INTO WEDNESDAY NEXT WEEK.
