000 FXUS64 KMRX 030710 AFDMRX AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MORRISTOWN TN 310 AM EDT SUN MAY 3 2015 .SHORT TERM /TODAY AND TONIGHT/... A CLEAR SKY IS PREVAILING ACROSS THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AND SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN REGION EARLY THIS MORNING WITH A SURFACE HIGH IN PLACE. A FEW AREAS OF PATCHY FOG WILL BE POSSIBLE AROUND DAYBREAK...MAINLY NEAR RIVERS/LAKES AND IN SHELTERED VALLEYS ACROSS SE TENNESSEE AND SW NORTH CAROLINA. HOWEVER...MOST LOCATIONS SHOULD REMAIN CLEAR GIVEN THE VERY LIMITED BOUNDARY LAYER MOISTURE...AND ANY FOG THAT DOES DEVELOP IN THE AFOREMENTIONED AREAS WILL QUICKLY DISSIPATE AFTER SUNRISE. A SUNNY AND MAINLY DRY DAY WILL BE IN STORE FOR THE REGION WITH AN UPPER-RIDGE SLOWLY BUILDING IN FROM THE SOUTHWEST. WINDS WILL VEER TO THE SOUTHEAST...WHICH COMBINED WITH THE SUN WILL MAKE FOR AN EVEN WARMER DAY TODAY. HIGHS SHOULD PEAK IN THE 75 TO 80 DEGREE RANGE IN MOST AREAS BY THE AFTERNOON. THERE WILL BE JUST ENOUGH MOISTURE TO ALLOW FOR A ROGUE/ISOLATED SHOWER THIS AFTERNOON ALONG THE EAST TENNESSEE MTNS...BUT OTHERWISE A DRY DAY IS IN STORE. TONIGHT...CLEARING WILL ALLOW FOR GOOD RADIATIONAL COOLING...WITH LOWS BOTTOMING OUT IN THE 50S IN MOST VALLEY SPOTS. .LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/... NOT MUCH TO TALK ABOUT DURING THIS LONG TERM PERIOD. LONG TERM PATTERN RESEMBLES MORE OF A SUMMER PATTERN THAN ONE FOR THE FIRST OF MAY. RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE CONTROLS OUR WEATHER THROUGH THE PERIOD WITH HIGHS RANGING FROM 5 TO 8 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. EACHDAY WE WILL HAVE CHANCES FOR DIURNAL CONVECTION AS HEATING RAMPS UP IN THE AFTERNOON HOURS. FOR FIRST HALF OF LONG TERM BEST CHANCES OF CONVECTION OCCURS ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AS THERE AREN`T ANY FEATURES TO PRODUCE MUCH LIFT ELSEWHERE. BETTER CHANCES OF A LITTLE MORE WIDESPREAD DIURNAL ACTIVITY TAKES PLACE DURING SECOND HALF OF LONG TERM AS CONVECTIVE TEMPS MAY BE MORE EASILY REACHED. TOWARD THE END OF THE LONG TERM AND BEYOND...AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE LOOKS TO COME ONSHORE INTO THE CAROLINAS. AS OF NOW IT DOESN`T LOOK LIKE THIS FEATURE WILL AFFECT OUR WEATHER. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
