000 FXUS64 KMRX 050707 AFDMRX AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MORRISTOWN TN 307 AM EDT TUE MAY 5 2015 .SHORT TERM /TODAY AND TONIGHT/...
-- Changed Discussion --
CLEAR CONDITIONS ARE PREVAILING ACROSS THE REGION EARLY THIS MORNING AS AN AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE REMAINS IN PLACE. THE CENTER OF THE UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE WILL BE CENTERED JUST EAST OF THE MOUNTAINS TODAY...HELPING TO REINFORCE A SOUTHWEST FETCH AND PERHAPS BRING SOME ADDITIONAL GULF MOISTURE INTO THE BOUNDARY LAYER. GIVEN THIS...SOME ISOLATED STORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE ALONG THE HIGHER TERRAIN LATE THIS AFTERNOON...THOUGH GIVEN THE LACK OF SHEAR/FORCING THIS ACTIVITY WILL BE UNORGANIZED AND SHORT-LIVED. HIGHS TODAY WILL BE VERY SIMILAR TO MONDAY /PERHAPS A DEGREE OR SO HIGHER/...WITH MOST AREAS REACHING THE LOWER 80S BY THE AFTERNOON. LATE TONIGHT...SOME LOCALIZED PATCHY FOG WILL BE POSSIBLE IN SHELTERED VALLEYS...BUT OTHERWISE A CLEAR SKY IS EXPECTED AGAIN WITH LOWS BOTTOMING OUT IN THE 50S ONCE MORE. .LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY/... RIDGE WILL CONTINUE TO BE THE DOMINANT FEATURE THROUGH THE LONG TERM PART OF THE FORECAST. WILL SEE HIGHS GENERALLY IN THE 80`S WITH LOWS OVERNIGHT FALLING INTO THE 50`S OR 60`S ACROSS THE AREA FOR MUCH OF THE WORK WEEK INTO THE WEEKEND. CHANCE TO SEE SOME DIURNALLY DRIVING SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS IN THE LATE AFTERNOON, MOSTLY IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN AREAS. MODELS STILL HINTING AT A NON TROPICAL LOW IN THE ATLANTIC THE SECOND HALF OF THE WEEK THAT WILL MAKE IT`S WAY TOWARDS THE COAST. DEPENDING ON HOW FAR INLAND THIS IS ABLE TO MAKE IT, IT COULD THROW SOME MOISTURE AND ENERGY AT US ALLOWING FOR AN INCREASE IN SHOWER/THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY EARLY NEXT WEEK.
