AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NORMAN OK
648 AM CDT WED APR 15 2015

.AVIATION...
WIDESPREAD MVFR CIGS ARE OBSERVED OVER OKLAHOMA THIS MORNING WITH
SOME LOCALIZED IFR CIGS. ANY LINGERING PRECIPITATION IS SOUTHEAST
OF THE TAF SITES. THERE IS SOME CLEARING OF THE LOW CLOUDS
SPREADING INTO SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA AND WESTERN NORTH TEXAS... BUT
AREAS OF FOG AND LOW VERTICAL VISIBILITIES ARE DEVELOPING IN THIS
AREA AFTER THE STRATUS MOVES OUT. CONDITIONS SHOULD IMPROVE
THROUGH THE MORNING BUT THEN EXPECT AREAS OF MVFR CIGS TO DEVELOP
AGAIN TONIGHT. THERE IS A CHANCE OF SHOWERS/STORMS MOVING INTO
WESTERN OKLAHOMA /MAINLY KGAG AND KWWR/ TONIGHT BUT HAVE NOT
MENTIONED IN THE TAFS WITH THE RELATIVELY LOW PROBABILITY AND
UNCERTAINTY ON TIMING.

.PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 434 AM CDT WED APR 15 2015/

DISCUSSION...
PRECIPITATION IS SLOWLY MOVING OUT OF THE AREA ALTHOUGH MAY LINGER
FOR A LITTLE BIT THIS MORNING IN THE FAR EASTERN PORTION OF THE
FORECAST AREA. THE NEXT STORM SYSTEM IN THE CURRENTLY OVER UTAH
WILL SLOWLY APPROACH AND SCATTERED STORMS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP
OVER THE PANHANDLES LATE THIS AFTERNOON OR EARLY THIS EVENING
AHEAD OF THIS SYSTEM AND SPREAD EAST INTO THE WESTERN PART OF THE
AREA. PRECIPITATION CHANCES WILL CONTINUE TO SLOWLY SPREAD EAST
TOMORROW... BUT THE UPPER LOW LOOKS TO HANG OUT ON THE COLORADO
PLATEAU FOR A WHILE BEFORE FINALLY MAKING A SLOW MOVE EAST. BUT AS
THIS SYSTEM SLOWLY MOVES TOWARD THE SOUTHERN ROCKIES AND HIGH
PLAINS... PRECIPITATION CHANCES WILL BE FAIRLY HIGH ACROSS THE
AREA FOR A FEW DAYS AND WILL HOPEFULLY BRING SOME DECENT RAINFALL
AMOUNTS TO THE DROUGHT-STRICKEN AREAS. ENOUGH INSTABILITY DEVELOPS
IN THE WESTERN PART OF THE AREA THAT SEVERE WEATHER WILL
DEFINITELY BE POSSIBLE AND THE SPC SLIGHT AND ENHANCED RISK AREAS
LOOK REASONABLE. MONDAY SHOULD BE A DRY DAY... BUT POST-FRONTAL
UPSLOPE WINDS AND RIPPLES IN THE WEST-NORTHWEST FLOW ALOFT MAY BE
SUFFICIENT FOR STORM DEVELOPMENT ON THE HIGH PLAINS MONDAY THAT
WILL MOVE TOWARD THE AREA MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY.
