...River Statement For The Cahaba River...

Heavy rainfall during the past couple days is producing rises on the
Cahaba River.  However...levels are expected to
remain below established flood stages...and any overflow along the
river should be of a minor nature.

The Cahaba River At Marion Junction.
 Latest Stage:     19.6 Feet At 8 AM Sunday.
 Caution Stage:    15.0 Feet.
 Flood Stage:      36.0 Feet.
 Forecast:         Crest near 21.0 Feet after midnight tonight
                   and then begin to fall.

* Impact...At 15.0 feet...Flooding around Oakmulgee Creek begins and
  cattle need to be moved to higher ground. Overflow of pasture lands
  increases at stages above 20 feet.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for later
statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected today and
tonight.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.

Another statement will be issued Monday morning...or sooner if
conditions warrant.
