...INCREASED WILDFIRE RISK FOR MUCH OF THIS CENTRAL MID-ATLANTIC
THIS AFTERNOON...

THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL
ENHANCE THE THREAT FOR THE SPREAD OF WILDFIRES FROM MIDDAY TODAY
THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON. SOUTH WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15 MPH WITH
GUSTS TO AROUND 25 MPH AND THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL DROP TO
AROUND 30 PERCENT IN SOME AREAS. DRY FUEL MOISTURE IS
LOW... GENERALLY 5 TO 7 PERCENT.

RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO EXERCISE CAUTION HANDLING ANY POTENTIAL
IGNITION SOURCE...INCLUDING MACHINERY...CIGARETTES...AND MATCHES.
BE SURE TO PROPERLY DISCARD ALL SMOKING MATERIALS. ANY DRY GRASSES
AND TREE LITTER THAT IGNITE WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO SPREAD
QUICKLY.

MARYLAND AND VIRGINIA RESIDENTS ARE REMINDED THAT OPEN BURNING IS
PROHIBITED BY LAW BEFORE 4 PM...5 PM FOR WEST VIRGINIA.
