  Ohio River at Smithland Dam affecting Pope and Livingston Counties

.Heavy rainfall last night into this morning has caused water levels
to rise along the Ohio River at Smithland with minor flooding now
expected to begin tonight and last into Tomorrow night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SAFETY MESSAGE...

Never drive cars...trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded
areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow
children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio or your local media for further statements and possible updated
forecasts.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Ohio River at Smithland Dam
* from late tonight to late Monday night.
* At  9:00 PM Sunday the stage was 39.9 feet.
* Flood Stage is 40.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to near flood stage after
  midnight tonight.
* Impact...At 40.0 Feet...Minor flooding occurs affecting mainly
  bottomland and surrounding and low lying areas.
