MARCH 2015 STARTED OUT WITH A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE THAT
PRODUCED MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW SHOWERS IN SOME AREAS...
THEN A STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE BROUGHT A RENEWED
WARMING TREND... INTERRUPTED BRIEFLY BY UNSETTLED WEATHER...
MARCH 11TH AND MARCH 12TH. ANOTHER RUN OF STRONG HIGH PRESSURE
WARDED OFF ANY SIGNIFICANT WEATHER AND BROUGHT A STRING
OF UNSEASONABLY WARM DAYS...WITH A FEW MOUNTAIN SPRINKLES.
MARCH 17TH THROUGH MARCH 22ND A PROGRESSIVE PATTERN DEVELOPED
AND SEVERAL WEAK LOW PRESSURE SYSTEMS MOVED THROUGH TO BRING
OCCASSIONAL SHOWERS...ALTHOUGH UNSEASONABLY WARM TEMPERATURES
CONTINUED. A ROBUST COLD FRONT MOVED THROUGH TO BRING SOME
RAIN AND SNOW TO NORTHERN NEVADA MARCH 23RD THROUGH MARCH 25TH.
MARCH 26TH THROUGH MARCH 31ST A REMARKABLY STRONG RIDGE
PATTERN DEVELOPED TO BRING EXCEPTIONAL WARMTH AND RECORD
HIGH TEMPERATURES TO MANY LOCATIONS IN NORTHERN NEVADA.
PRECIPITATION WAS BELOW AVERAGE ACROSS THE COUNTY WARNING
AREA...INCLUDING BELOW AVERAGE SNOWPACK THROUGHOUT THE STATE.
A RECORD AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR MARCH WAS SET IN ELY
AND TONOPAH.
