AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE POCATELLO ID
310 AM MDT THU APR 16 2015

.SHORT TERM...TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT.
UPPER LEVEL LOW CONTINUES TO DRIFT SOUTHEAST WITH UPPER LEVEL
RIDGE BEGINNING TO PUSH IN FORM THE WEST. EXPECT MAINLY DRY
CONDITIONS THROUGH SATURDAY. TEMPERATURES WILL WARM TO NEAR
SEASONAL NORMALS TODAY WITH WELL ABOVE NORMAL CONDITIONS EXPECTED
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. A WEAK SYSTEM MAY BRUSH BY FROM THE NORTH
SATURDAY BUT MOST MOISTURE AND PRECIPITATION SHOULD STAY EAST.
HAVE ONLY SLIGHT CHANCE IN CENTRAL MOUNTAINS AND UPPER SNAKE
HIGHLANDS. OVERALL SHORT TERM DOES NOT LOOK TO HAVE SIGNIFICANT
WEATHER.
GK

.LONG TERM...SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

MOST OF THE LONG TERM IS RIDGE DOMINANT. THERE MIGHT BE JUST ENOUGH
MOISTURE SPILLING OVER THE RIDGE FOR SOME AFTERNOON/EVENING VARIETY
SHOWERS ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN. MODELS TRY TO BREAK DOWN THE
RIDGE AROUND MIDWEEK WITH A CLOSED LOW MOVING ONTO THE CALIFORNIA
COAST. THIS MAY SPREAD SOME MOISTURE INTO THE REGION FOR WEDNESDAY
AND BEYOND...RESULTING IN BETTER CHANCES FOR PRECIPITATION.
TEMPERATURES WILL BE NEAR OR ABOVE NORMAL DURING THIS TIME.

VALLE

&&

.AVIATION...HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD INTO THE REGION TODAY. ANY
CEILINGS WILL BE VFR AND WINDS WILL BE AROUND THE 10 TO 15KT RANGE.
