AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT
915 PM MDT SUN MAY 3 2015

.SYNOPSIS...A MILD AND INCREASINGLY MOIST WEST TO SOUTHWEST FLOW
WILL REMAIN OVER UTAH THROUGH TUESDAY. A SLOW MOVING DISTURBANCE
WILL IMPACT THE REGION WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.

&&

.DISCUSSION...A WEST TO SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT REMAINS IN PLACE OVER
UTAH THIS EVENING. HOWEVER...SOUTHERLY FLOW CURRENTLY ACROSS ARIZONA
AND SOUTHERN NEVADA WILL BEGIN TO DEVELOP INTO UTAH LATER TONIGHT AS
A WEAK LOW OFF THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA COAST MOVES INLAND. IN THE
MEANTIME...LINGERING CONVECTION IS STILL IN PLACE...MOSTLY FOCUSED
OVER SOUTHWEST UTAH AND ALONG AN AREA OF LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE
EXTENDING FROM WEST-CENTRAL UTAH THROUGH UTAH COUNTY. ALTHOUGH A
GENERAL DOWNWARD TREND IN CONVECTIVE SHOWERS HAVE BEEN NOTED THIS
EVENING...A FEW SHOWERS MAY LINGER THROUGH THE NIGHT...MOST
FAVORABLY ACROSS THE SOUTH AHEAD OF THE APPROACHING LOW.
OTHERWISE...WINDS WILL REMAIN LOCALLY GUSTY THROUGH LATE
EVENING...BEING DRIVEN BY VARIOUS OUTFLOWS.

THE SOUTH FLOW AHEAD OF THE APPROACHING LOW WILL CONTINUE TO DRAW
MOISTURE INTO THE AREA. THIS WILL ALLOW ANOTHER ROUND OF CONVECTION
TO DEVELOP AGAIN TOMORROW ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN AND FAR
NORTHWEST UTAH...BUT EXPECT GREATER FOCUS FOR SOUTHERN UTAH AS THE
LOW TRACKS INTO NORTHWEST ARIZONA.

WILL UPDATE FORECAST TO MAINLY TO ADJUST EVENING WINDS AND POP/SKY
FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE NIGHT PER LATEST OBSERVATIONAL AND MODEL
TRENDS. ALSO WILL BUMP MIN TEMPERATURES UP A COUPLE OF DEGREES IN
SOME SPOTS DUE TO LINGERING CLOUD COVER.

&&

.AVIATION...NORTH WINDS WILL LIKELY PERSIST AT THE SLC TERMINAL
UNTIL 04-05Z BEFORE SOUTH WINDS RETURN. THERE IS A 20 PERCENT CHANCE
THAT SHOWERS DEVELOPING TO THE SOUTH WILL SEND GUSTY OUTFLOW WINDS
TO THE TERMINAL THROUGH 06Z. OTHERWISE...EXPECT VFR CONDITIONS
THROUGH THE NIGHT.

&&

.SLC WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
UT...NONE.
WY...NONE.
