SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 20 MPH AT THE 20 FOOT LEVEL...AND A HIGH FIRE

WARM...DRY AND BREEZY SOUTHWESTERLY TO WESTERLY WINDS WILL
DEVELOP ACROSS THE REGION TODAY. THE DRIEST CONDITIONS WILL BE
ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST PANHANDLE INTO THE WESTERN SOUTH PLAINS WHERE
RH VALUES WILL FALL TO 10 TO 15 PERCENT. THE DRY CONDITIONS
COUPLED WITH WESTERLY WINDS SUSTAINED AT 15 TO 20 MPH WILL RESULT
IN A PERIOD OF ELEVATED TO BRIEFLY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER THIS
AFTERNOON ROUGHLY ALONG AND WEST OF TULIA TO PLAINS LINE...WHERE A
FIRE DANGER STATEMENT IS IN EFFECT. MORE WIDESPREAD CRITICAL FIRE
WEATHER IS EXPECTED ACROSS MOST OF THE AREA THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND
EVENING AS VERY WARM AND DRY AIR OVERSPREADS THE REGION ON
SUSTAINED SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH. A FIRE WEATHER
WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THE ENTIRE SOUTH PLAINS REGION THURSDAY.
