AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OMAHA/VALLEY NE
625 AM CDT SUN APR 26 2015

.SHORT TERM...(TODAY)
ISSUED AT 317 AM CDT SUN APR 26 2015

WV IMAGERY THIS MORNING REVEALING AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE SITUATED OVER
THE NRN/CNTRL PL WITH AN UPSTREAM LONGWAVE TROF OVER THE WRN CONUS.
HIRES PROGS IN PRETTY GOOD AGREEMENT WRN TROF WILL BOTTOM OUT LATER
THIS MORNING OVER AZ/NM...THEN EWD INTO TX THIS AFTN. BRUNT OF ANY
PCPN ACTIVITY TODAY THEN SHOULD BE CONFINED ALONG THE WRN HIGH
PLAINS WHERE COMBINATION OF DPVA AND ISENTROPIC UPGLIDE WILL BE MOST
PREVALENT.

FOR THE CWA...ONLY TOPIC OF CONCERN IS CLOUD COVER. RAP13/ARW/NMM
ARE IN QUITE GOOD AGREEMENT DEPICTING DECREASING AREAL COVERAGE FROM
E TO W TAKING PLACE DURING THE LATE MORNING HOURS WITH THE BREAK
BTWN SUN/CLOUDS PUSHING WEST OF THE CWA BY 18Z. THUS EXPECT MOSTLY
SUNNY SKIES DURING THE AFTN HOURS. AS FOR TEMPS...MET/MAV VALUES ARE
QUITE SIMILAR AS WELL AS REASONABLE WITH HIGHS IN THE LOW 60S.

DEE

SHORT TERM...(TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY)
ISSUED AT 317 AM CDT SUN APR 26 2015

HIGH PRESSURE PREVAILS THROUGH THE PERIOD WITH GENERALLY CLEAR
SKIES AND NORMAL TEMPERATURES. THERE STILL IS A VERY WEAK FRONT
THAT MOVES THROUGH THE FORECAST AREA TUESDAY. NAM/GFS REMAIN
DRY...WHILE ECMWF/SREF HINT AT A VERY SMALL CHANCE FOR PRECIP.
STILL BELIEVE MOISTURE IS TOO MEAGER TO WARRANT A MENTION AT THIS
TIME...THUS WILL KEEP THE FORECAST DRY.

DEWALD

.LONG TERM...(TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY)
ISSUED AT 317 AM CDT SUN APR 26 2015

THE EARLY PART OF THE EXTENDED FORECAST SHOULD BE DRY WITH RIDGING
ALOFT AND TEMPS IN THE LOWER TO MID 70S AND LOTS OF SUNSHINE. A
FRONT IS FORECAST TO MOVE INTO THE AREA ON FRIDAY AT PEAK
HEATING...AND MOISTURE APPEARS TO BE SUFFICIENT TO AT LEAST
MENTION A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. THAT WAVE THEN MOVES
THROUGH...BUT ANOTHER WEAK WAVE APPEARS TO BE MOVING THROUGH THE
AREA ON SATURDAY WHICH COULD TRIGGER ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS. MID
TO UPPER 70S TEMPS CONTINUE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.

&&

.AVIATION...(12Z TAFS FOR KOFK...KLNK AND KOMA.)
ISSUED AT 620 AM CDT SUN APR 26 2015

LOW CIGS CONTINUE TO EXIT WESTWARD OVER ERN NEB AND EXPECT VFR
CONDITIONS TO PREVAIL THE FCST PD AT KOFK AND KOMA. AT
KLNK...MVFR CIGS SHOULD BE CLEAR WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE
HOURS...THUS HAVE ADDED TEMPO GROUP TO REFLECT THIS.
