FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOS ANGELES/OXNARD CA
251 PM PDT WED MAY 6 2015

...THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...
A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST WILL DROP SOUTH
ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BY THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND LINGER
THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT. THIS STORM WILL BRING A PROLONGED PERIOD OF
BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES ALONG WITH A DEEP MOIST MARINE LAYER FOR
THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK. GUSTY ONSHORE WINDS WILL AFFECT THE
INTERIOR PORTIONS THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING...ESPECIALLY THE
ANTELOPE VALLEY. A FEW LIGHT SHOWERS WILL DEVELOP BY EARLY THURSDAY
MORNING THEN SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE
POSSIBLE DISTRICT-WIDE IN THE AFTERNOON AND AGAIN FRIDAY
AFTERNOON. THE HIGHEST CHANCES OF THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE OVER THE
HIGHER MOUNTAINS OF VENTURA AND LOS ANGELES COUNTIES. LIGHTNING
COULD START SMALL FIRES BUT WETTING RAINS ARE ANTICIPATED WITH
THIS ACTIVITY AS WELL AS SNOW ABOVE 5500 FEET. WARMER AND DRIER
CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY OVER THE WEEKEND.
