DAILY RIVER AND LAKE SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
1133 AM EDT SAT APR 18 2015

...River levels are currently elevated and may rise above flood stage
early this coming week...

Significant rainfall over the past week has brought elevated river levels to
area rivers. The Congaree River at Carolina Eastman neared flood stage this
morning but has peaked and is currently falling. Above normal flow from reservoir
releases at Lake Murray will continue today. If there are further increases it
may bring Carolina Eastman back around flood stage.

Significant rainfall is looking more likely for Sunday with forecast rainfall
amounts in the Midlands ranging from one half to one inch. However forecast
totals in the Upstate from one to two inches may have an effect on rivers in the
area as well. The rainfall over the next few days could cause the Congaree River
at Carolina Eastman to enter into flood stage on Tuesday. Confidence in CEAS1
reaching flood stage is increased due to over 50 percent of GEFS model ensemble
members forecasting minor flooding on Tuesday and Wednesday. No other forecast
points are expected to surpass flood stage but will be elevated over the course
of the week.
