AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SACRAMENTO CA
151 AM PDT Sun Apr 26 2015

.Synopsis...
High pressure brings dry conditions through at least mid week.
Above normal temperatures will rule with warmest temperatures on
Monday and slight cooling trend through the end of the week.

&&

.Discussion...
Ridge of high pressure will build off the coast today into Monday
before gradually shifting east on Tuesday ahead of approaching
trough. Dry weather will reign through at least midweek with
plenty of sunshine and a warming trend today into Monday.
Temperatures today will generally top off near 80 in the valley
and 50s-60s in the mountains...near to slightly above normal for
this time of year. As northerly flow sets up, could see some
breezy winds today and Tuesday during the day (gusts on the order
of 20-25 mph) across western portions of the valley. As ridge
amplifies, temperatures will warm even further on Monday with
highs some 10 to 15 degrees above normal. Temperatures will cool a
few degrees Tuesday and Wednesday as ridge axis shifts east.
Models in good agreement with weak trough that approaches the
coast on Wednesday. Moisture is limited with this system and any
chance for precip should remain removed to the north, mainly
across Oregon.

.Extended Discussion (Thursday through Sunday)

Upper trough shifts east by Thursday as upper ridge over the
eastern Pacific attempts to build into NorCal late in the week and
next weekend. GFS is a little stronger with building heights
across the region while the EC maintains a very weak trough.
Either way, the sensible weather for the region won`t differ much
with generally dry and mild conditions expected.

&&

.Aviation...

VFR conditions expected the next 24 hours across interior NorCal
with SCT250, except SCT-BKN060-070 over the northern mountains
until around 18Z. Generally light winds except northerly 10-15 kts
with gusts around 20 kts in the Central Valley 18Z-00Z Monday.

.STO Watches/Warnings/Advisories...
